The Kitchen

The kitchen when we moved in.

First phase we took out a long cabinet so the stove and refridgerator would fit.

After a month of doing painting in the other parts of the house we started working on the kitchen and dining room.  First step opening up the wall (not supporting) between the two rooms

It was a lot of fun to start seeing what it was going to be like.

The floor in the kitchen was about 1 inch thick so we took a saw and cut up a square and wow we had a wood floor that wasn't in too bad of shape

Our son found some kitchen cabinets on Craigs List.  We were able to get all the cabinets for the kitchen for $472.50!!!  I sanded them and then we gutted the kitchen

The new kitchen going in.  Before we put up the cabinets we put bead board on the walls in the kitchen side of the remodel

view into the dining room
Banquette is finished.

Our new old house

Andy and I decided about a year ago to put our house on the market and see what would happen.  We sold our house in January.  We both believed it was time for an adventure.  We had come to know a church in Greenville South Carolina, close to where one of our sons lived and found it to be a good fit for us.  We also wanted to pay cash for a house.  We cleared enough from the sale of our house in Chattanooga to buy a 1920 mill house in Inman, SC.  The house is half way between the church we have come to love and our son and his family.  It has not been easy to be "homeless" for 1 1/2 months or to know we are leaving family and friends here in Chattanooga.  But God is good to give us grace for the challenge.  We have stayed with Matt and Sarah for about 2 weeks, and our dear friends Ken and Diane have let us stay with them for over 4 weeks.  This coming Thursday we close on our little house.  I will post pictures and will keep them updated as we make improvements on our find.
